About This Site

Fly Smart — a focused study resource for Robinson R22 helicopter pilots.

What This Site Is

This site is a personal study tool designed for student and certificated pilots flying the Robinson R22 helicopter and preparing for the FAA Commercial Pilot Helicopter checkride. It is not a replacement for official FAA publications or qualified flight instruction — it is a supplement designed to make rote review faster and more accessible.

Content Sources

  • R22 Emergency Procedures — Text drawn from the Robinson R22 Pilot’s Operating Handbook (POH), Section 3: Emergency Procedures. Always cross-reference with the current POH specific to your aircraft.
  • Commercial ACS Standards — Tasks, knowledge elements, risk management items, and skills taken from the FAA Helicopter Commercial Pilot Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-16). Check FAA.gov for the latest version.

Audio

Each section and task is paired with an audio file. Audio is served from a self-hosted endpoint and generated from the cleaned procedural text. Use it to reinforce memory recall — especially useful during ground study sessions before a flight lesson or checkride.

Disclaimer

This site is an unofficial study aid. Always fly in accordance with the current, approved POH for your specific aircraft serial number, applicable FARs, and the guidance of a qualified CFI. Aviation procedures change — verify everything against official sources before flight.
